Fotorny Family Adoption

An easy way to keep friends and family updated on our adoption process.

No news yet

tfotorny | July 23, 2008 06:22

Well, no news yet.  We're still looking and still waiting to hear information about the 30 or so children we are interested in.  Some have been removed from the list so they have more than likely been adopted or at least placed in a pre-adoptive home. Undecided {{{sigh}}}  The waiting and not hearing any info is really frustrating.  It's a true test of my patience.  I'm trying very hard on the days when I'm discouraged to just trust in the Lord that He is taking care of the situation and He is working it out for us.  I know His timing is best and that He has a particular girl set aside to be our daughter.  Perhaps none of the girls we're waiting for information about are the "one" God has set aside for us.  I just wish we would find her soon and bring her home to our family.

A long wait

We still haven't heard anything about the 25 or so children we inquired about in the last few weeks.  A dear friend, and a wise Christian, recently told me that she was praying about our adoption process.  She said that if we were trying to get pregnant, we'd have to wait nine months to get the baby.  So it will be similar with the adoption.  We will have to wait a little while to get her.  The analogy to a pregnancy got me thinking about the fact that we haven't heard about any of the inquiries of the kids.  Well, if we were trying to get pregnant, it would be several weeks before we would know if we were expecting.  So it got me to thinking that it may be several weeks until we hear any info about the children we're interested in.  For the most part, we are patiently waiting.  But it is hard.  Some days I struggle with being patient.  I want to find my daughter, and bring her home to love.  But I know all this will be in God's timing.  In His time, He will give us our daughter.  He will give us the daughter He wants us to have.  She is out there waiting.  God has her set aside, reserved for us.  In His time, He will lead us to her.  Please continue to pray with us and for us that God will lead us to our daughter.  Please also pray for our future daughter -- that she will know we love her already and that the transition into our family will go well.

Still Looking and Waiting

We are still requesting to get profiles on children we're interested in but we still haven't heard any information about any of them.  So, this is a real test of my patience playing the waiting game.  Hopefully we'll start getting more information soon.

Still Waiting

tfotorny | June 01, 2008 11:04

About three weeks ago we emailed our adoption agent a list of about 15 girls that we wanted to inquire about.  We're still waiting to hear back from the individual case workers for each girl.  I can see that this is going to be a longer process than I had hoped and thought.

The Search Begins

tfotorny | May 16, 2008 07:55

We emailed a list of potential children to our adoption agency and she is inquiring about them.  She hasn't heard anything yet but promises to let us know as soon as she does.  We know that God has our daughter set aside for us and that He will lead us to her.  Please pray with us that God will lead us to the daughter He wants us to have, and that He will reveal her to us.  We are so excited to get to this point of being able to search for her.  We hope to find her soon although God's timing is not always our timing but His timing is what's best for us.  We are trusting Him to work out all the details and may He receive the glory through this journey we are on.

Getting Ready

tfotorny | May 10, 2008 17:33

Today we bought a dresser for her room.  We got a really good deal on it -- it was a display model and the store was going to discontinue selling that brand of furniture.  There wasn't any marks on it --it's in perfect shape -- and the good news is --- it's already put together!!  We got it at just a little over half the original price.  So we were pleased with the deal.  This is exciting to be getting stuff for her.  I'd have the dresser filled with clothes by now, but since we don't know who she is yet or her age, I can't buy clothes yet.  We do want to paint her room before she comes but we're going to wait to find out her favorite color, etc.  Today the boys and I started going through toys to re-organize, getting rid of old stuff, etc.  We're also starting to work on re-doing the boys room.  It's going to be quite a process but we're trying to do a little bit each day. I'm also working on a list for the adoption agency of kids we want specific details about.  Monday morning we should hopefully officially begin searching!

The Green Light!

tfotorny | May 09, 2008 12:24

We got the green light to actively search for our daughter!!   Our home study is approved and enroute to our local adoption agency!  We may now inquire for specific details about the children we're interested in!!

Another Step Closer

tfotorny | May 09, 2008 11:22

Last night we emailed our home study report back to the social worker with just a few minor corrections.  Tonight we will sign a paper stating that we approve of our home study report.  I'll mail the signed paper out tomorrow morning.  In the next few days, the social worker will email the report and mail four signed copies to our local adoption agency.  Once that happens -- we can begin looking for our daughter!!  We will be able to inquire about specific details about children and start the matching process!!!!

The Rough Draft

tfotorny | May 08, 2008 04:09

Tonight we received the rough draft of our home study report!!!   I read through it last night and Scott will read through it tonight.  I hope to make any corrections and get it emailed back to him by tomorrow.  We're one step closer!

The Waiting Game

tfotorny | April 30, 2008 08:28

We're still playing the waiting game and trying to be patient. The social worker is typing up our home study report and hopefully soon we will get to proof it, and get it approved.  We have several kids we're interested in but we can't get many details about them until we get our approval.  We bought a bed for her last weekend.  That was exciting.  Now, we're going to start working on reorganizing the boys' room to make better use of the space for them.  And we need to reorganize toys.  We also hope to get rid of unnecessary stuff, extra stuff, things the kids have outgrown, and things we don't use/need anymore.  It's amazing how much stuff we have accumulated over 11 years.
